This is a fine quality genuine antique 19th century French gilt bronze figure on a circular red and white marble base and titled ‘Amour Vainqueur’ ( love vanquished ) by A. Gaudez who was born in Lyon in 1854 and died in 1902 and known for producing several monumental figures, large busts plus much smaller figures. Gaudez is a name synonymous with exquisite French bronze sculptures, he was admired for his blend of meticulous craftsmanship and Art Noveau aesthetics. Gaudez exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1864 and his work adorned the halls of Paris Salons.

Condition: Very good commensurate with age and use.
