Antique English Victorian Glass Apothecary Jar.

A$2,985.00

This is a rare and monumental size genuine antique English !9th century Victorian period Apothecary Jar complete with its lid.

The lid is clear glass painted blue inside so as to highlight the gilded decorative band comprising of a Rose flower with Rose leaves on either side trailing away to a band of Oak leaves.

The jar is clear ‘blown’ glass and has its pontil mark beneath. The jar is painted internally so as to highlight the Gold and Silver Leaf Coat of Arms which features apposed Unicorns, a lLion mounted above a Crown Heraldic Flags and a central shield with a rampaging Lion. At the top and lower section are banners with Latin inscriptions. At the bottom are clumps of gilded folage and lower foliate swags. The pontil mark on the base shows that the jar was ‘blown free hand’ and where the finished item was broken away from the pont.

Condition: Excellent commensurate with age. There are no chips or cracks which is amazing.

Size: Height 70cm x Width 31cm.

Price: $2,985. I have references of smaller and lesser quality selling on online sites for more
