Antique Chinese 19th century Qing dynasty octagonal Bronze Senser / Jardineer

A$4,875.00

This is an excellent example of a substantial and very heavy solid Bronze 19th century Qing dynasty octagonally faceted solid bronze Senser.

The Qing dynasty was a Manchu led imperial dynasty who ruled China from 1636 to 1912 and was the last imperial dynasty in Chinese history.

Each panel is decorated in dimensional scenes ( see images ) and the whole is supported on four substantial feet in the manner of Shi / Fu Lion Dogs who were the protectors or guardians to ward off negative energies.

The whole sits upon a shaped timber base.

Condition: Excellent for age. The jardineer was polished and lacquered about 50 years ago and is oxidising. It just needs the lacquer taken off and either left or re lacquered. We can recommend people who do this type of work.

Size: Senser - Width 43cm x Height 27cm. Height of base 3cm so 30cm overall.
