This is an excellent quality genuine antique English mid 19th century circa 1855 Victorian period Walnut card Table which also would make an excellent Side Table / Hall Table or even a Bed Side Table.

The top surface feature veneers are book leaf matched and the top has a curved perimeter molding plus the front and sides are both curved with smaller curved lobes between. The shape of the apron compliments the top surface. When the top is turned and folded down it lays upon the apron which has a concealed compartment for storage of cards and other game pieces. The inset gold tooled playing surface is the original however due to age is torn at the folding point.

The column and legs are solid Walnut and the full height central cylindrical support column terminates at the base with a large highly profiled and decorative carved inverted finial. The legs are full height and are engaged with the central column however at the base of the column the legs change direction and have carved Acanthus motif knees which flow into shaped and tapered cabriole legs with downward scrolled feet which conceal the original all brass castor assemblies.

Condition: Over all very desirable original condition commensurate with age and use.
