Antique English late Victorian / Edwardian Childs Oak High Chair

A$2,495.00

Here is a lovely top quality Childs Chair with Provenance and History.

It is made from solid English Oak and is carved embellished with Alan Mc Gaws initials (A.W.T.McG.), multiple mice on the top rail and a pair of seated Lions with heraldic shields which support the chairs arms. The seat is in tan leather with a brass studded border.

Joseph Mc Gaw (1828-189800 came from England to Australia and became one of New South Wales most successful and wealthy Merino sheep breeders. He kept his business interests in Australia but returned to England and when he died he left his vast fortune to his son Jack who built the astonishing St. Leonards Forest Country Manor. This High Chair was custom made for Jacks son Alan and is out of the Manor House.

The chair is structurally sound and the seat is good but slightly sagging which is easy to rectify.
