This is a very good genuine antique French mid 1800s French Settee / Canape / Lounge / Sofa made in the Louis XV manner.

The show timber frame is beautifully crafted from desirable imported prestigious Central American Rosewood and has all the required detailing of a central shell crest carving with ‘S’ and ‘C’ shaped scroll embellishments and leaves trailing to either side. The arms are nicely shaped and scrolled plus are open in the Fauteuil style. The front seat rail is serpentine in form once with a central motif in the form of a Fler de Leis with trailing leaves either side and like the serpentine shaped side rails flow downwards into the carved embellished cabriole legs which are complete with there original castor assemblies.

The seat is sprung for comfort and like the rear back pad and arms is currently covered in an attractive tapestry however may be easily changed to taste.

Condition: The Frame, upholstery and cover are all in excellent condition.
