Antique English Victorian Rosewood Chaise.
Antique English Victorian Rosewood Chaise.
This is a very stylish and high quality example of a genuine antique English mid Victorian circa 1855 Chaise lounge with a prestigious solid imported Rosewood show timber frame in the elegant and popular French Louis XV manner. The Chaise is open at one end and has a rolled end at the other so it may be used as a day bed the seat section is of serpentine form along the front and at the open end while the rear upholstered panel is diamond buttoned. The show timber frame is very well carved embellished on the back panel frame and at the rolled end. the whole is supported on cabriole shaped and carved legs which flow from the frame and terminate in original brass and white porcelain castor assemblies.
Condition: Frame excellent. Back panel upholstery excellent. Rolled end excellent. The seat is webbed and has springs. Over time it has sagged at one end however we can have the webbing redone at this end. Decisions can be made later as a buyer may wish to have the upholstery changed to taste.
