This is a very good example of a genuine 19th century antique English two height Book Case / Display Cabinet of medium size and of good proportions The whole is finished in figured Walnut with complimentary cross bandings, marquetry floral inlays and applied gilt mounts in the French Louis manner.

‍The upper display cabinet has a typical cross banded arched cornice and a vertical pediment also cross banded and embellished with a central coloured floral and foliate inlay. The two glazed doors reveal an interior with two adjustable full width fabric lined shelves The door frames are arched at the top corners and feature cross banding. Either side of the doors are vertical panels featuring marquetry inlays and upper and lower applied brass corbels in the French taste.

The lower storage cabinet has a pair of recessed blind panel doors which compliment the upper paneled doors, conceal an internal full width shelf and feature perimeter cross banding plus large feature central floral and foliate marquetry inlays. The top of the lower cabinet compliments the cornice with its shape, cross bandings and central inlay as does the front side panels with their inlays and applied brass corbels.

The whole stands on a protruding plynth base with a serpentine shaped lower edge in the French manner. Both cabinets come complete with decorative brass keys.

Condition: Excellent for age having had professional refurbishment not long ago.
