On offer is a fine quality example of compact size genuine antique Anglo Indian 19th century Victorian period combination piece of ‘campaign’ furniture comprising of a lower storage Chest of Drawers with an upper Display Cabinet / Book Case constructed from solid Rosewood.

I have described this piece of furniture as a campaign chest / book case because it is constructed in three sections being the removable upper book case / display cabinet top section and the lower chest of drawers section which is in two pieces for easy transport plus of course the recessed flush mounted drawer pull handles all being typical of military campaign furniture.

The upper Book Case / Display Cabinet for collectables or books has a cornice and pediment both profusely carved on the front and the sides. The front pair of doors frames are carved to compliment and feature glazed panels arched at the top and with brass moldings around the glass. inside the full width shelf has a raised front edge so as to prevent books etc sliding and impacting with the glass door panels whilst being transported.

The lower Storage Cabinet is a chest of drawers with a pair of top side by side drawers with three full width drawers below. All drawers feature flush fitting all brass campaign drawer pulls which are centred in the middle of raised sun burst carved decorative panels. All drawers are complete with brass locks and brass keyhole escutcheons.

The protruding top of the chest and the platform base both have a profusely carved perimeter molding and the whole stand on four corner positioned short turned and tapered feet.

Condition: Excellent commensurate with age and use. it is without a key however we can have one made.
