This is a really superior quality piece of furniture for the person who appreciates and wants the best.
On offer is a fabulous quality genuine antique English Victorian Bureau Des Dame made in the last quarter of the 1800s with a strong French Louis XV influence.
The whole is finished externally in some of the finest book leaf matched highly figured Walnut that you will find while the interior is finished in equally lovely Satinwood.
The top section is a sloping drop front bureau which is paneled to the front sides and the back and has an upper gallery shelf mounted by a gilt brass three sided gallery and supported on the sides by carves French āCā shaped scrolls. The front and side panels are beautifully inlaid.
The interior is superb being finished in Satinwood with Mahogany detailing and Ebony line inlay. the interior fittings comprise of a central cupboard with a mirror paneled door with short stacked drawers on either side each with well turned Ebonised knobs. The recessed leather writing surface is beautifully gold tooled.
The base section is typically in the French Louis XV manner with a bombe shaped apron with a lower serpentine edge which flows into the four elegant shaped and tapered cabriole legs. The full width drawer front has complimentary inlay and the knees and toes have quality gilt brass mounts.
As an example of the superior quality all drawer bottoms are secured by screws and the whole rear of the desk is finished so that it may free stand in a room and not have to go against a wall.
