This is a good example of a genuine antique English later 1800s hard to find Wellington Chest.

Wellington chests are narrower upright chests of drawers with a very efficient and unique locking system. Where as usual chest of drawers have an individual lock on each drawer Wellington Chests have a full height hinged side pilaster which once closed and locked secures all the drawers.

This Wellington Chest has nine full width stacked and graduated flush fitting drawers each with a pair of later turned drawer pull knobs. The chest is of upright rectangular form and the top has a simple edge molding and the pilasters have full height fluting.

This chest is finished in good medium honey coloured Walnut and all the drawers are mahogany lined and have fine dovetail construction. All on a plynth base.

Condition: Very good having had reasonably recent refurbishment.

Price: It owes our seller much more however he has instructed us to sell it for $1,985 which is very reasonable.

Sellers Observation: They are getting harder to find and this is a good one in very good condition.
