On offer is a very good example of a hard to come by genuine antique English Victorian early to mid 1800s Military Campaign Chest made in the usual two sections for ease of transport on military campaigns. This is a real campaign chest as it has the carry handles on both end of both sections. Campaign chests were desirable and chests made for the local domestic markets usually did not require the end carry handles so did not have them.

This chest is solidly constructed from solid imported central American Mahogany and is reinforced with solid brass corner brackets and angle brackets

All drawers are flush fitting and have recessed brass rectangular drawer pull handles and brass keyhole escutcheons and drawer locks.

The upper Chest has a pair of side by side drawers with a lower full width drawer while the lower chest has a pair of stacked full width graduated drawers.

Condition: Over all very good for a campaign Chest with previous minor conservation. The top surface has blemishes and will be professionally rectified in the price.The original bulky end carry handles have been replaced with more refined flush brass handles so as to match the drawer pull handles. There is a blemish on the top surface which we will have professionally rectified within the price, plus some other minor detailing.
