Antique English Georgian Mahogany Chest of Drawers.
This is a very good excellent example of a genuine antique English Georgian (George III ) later 18th century (1700s ) Chest of Drawers. Beautifully made by craftsmen from prestigious imported Central American Mahogany prized for its many qualities of figuring and colour.
The chest is well proportioned and of a hard to come by compact size ideal for the smaller rooms.
There are four full width graduated Oak lined Drawers and each has perimeter cock bead molding, brass key hole escutcheons, iron locks and pairs of bale drawer pull handles. The top drawer is divided into sections and has a slide with an adjustable slope. When the secretaire drawer is opened the slide may be pushed back to access the compartments within. All supported on a platform base with corner straight bracket feet. The lock in the top secretaire drawer is a beauty in that it is brass and has four tongues for added security.
