Antique English Georgian Mahogany Chest of Drawers.
Antique English Georgian Mahogany Chest of Drawers.
This is a very good example of a genuine antique English later 18th century ( 1700s ) Georgian period ( George III ) Chest of Drawers.
This chest of drawers is of simple classic Georgian style relying on the quality of the materials used, robust construction, and good proportions. This chest is made from solid boards of prestigious imported Central American Mahogany of good colour and figuring.
The top has a typical quality perimeter edge molding. Due to the quality of home it would have once been in it has a pull out dressing slide above the top two side by side drawers. Below are three full width graduated drawers and the whole stands on corner positioned shaped straight bracket feet.
What I like about this chest of drawers is that it is almost 250 years old and still works perfectly and is complete with its original French polished finish ( now nicely mellowed ), has all its original brass keyhole escutcheons, drawer locks and brass drawer pull handles.
Condition: Excellent commensurate with age and light use. Photographed just as it arrived requiring a general clean and wax polish which we will do.
Size: Width 111cm x Depth 54cm x Height 101cm.
Price $2,985.
Sellers Observation: A very good example of its type which is getting very hard to find these days.
