On offer is a very good antique French Display Cabinet / Vitrine made in the earlier 1900s so about 100 years old.

This Display Cabinet / Vitrine is finished and presents identically on all four sides so it may free stand in a room and does not have to go against a wall so the contents may be viewed from all sides. The cabinet has a see through glass top and all sides are identically glass paneled however the front side has a full height access door. The upright cabinet has support for a full width and depth shelf if required. The base of the cabinet on all sides is nicely curved with a serpentine lower edge and the cbase flows into the four corner positioned tall and elegant shaped and tapered cabriole legs.

The Cabinet / Vitrine is profusely embellished with fine brass moldings around all five glass panels and has applied cast decorative mounts being eight at the top corners of the cabinet and four horizontal mounts on the frieze sections with long curved mounts where the cabinet flows into the legs plus cast brass mounts at the bottom of each leg. This is a total twenty cast brass decorative applied mounts as well as the brass moldings around each of the five glazed panels plus there is are additional continuous horizontal moldings both top and bottom of the top concave pediment / cornice.

Our seller had commenced to highlight and gild some of the mounts so as to feature them and give the cabinet some extra bling however did not finish this task.

The cabinet is offered for sale as it has come to us however if required we can organise to have the gilding of all the mounts professionally completed and the cabinet would look spectacular as it would with the polish refurbished which could be done at the same time as the gilding was taking place.

Condition: Currently in the good overall condition that it has been consigned to us in commensurate with its age and use. Photographed as it arrived showing some applied brass mounts the owner has already had gilded and others to be gilded. The four glass side panels and glass top panel are all original. as is the lock.

Price: As is $2,850 plus any refurbishments and gilding that may be requested. We can organise any refurbishment and restoration as you may require including to be sent to a professional Restorer, have all the brass mounts and moldings removed, refurbish the polish and replace all the moldings and mounts allow $1,250. If the brass mounts and moldings are to be gilded allow extra $1,250 as there are 48 individual pieces to be prepared and gilded. A glass shelf will be provided at no additional cost as will a key.

Sellers Observation: A lovely and very hard to find item which if restored / refurbished would be a stunning feature / show piece for displaying a collection of smaller items or just to feature a single precious item.
