Antique French Boulle inlaid Display Cabinet.

A$7,495.00

This is a most excellent example of a high quality genuine antique French 19th century Display cabinet / Side Cabinet in the manner of the famous maker Andre Charles Boulle (1642 - 1732 ) to King Louis XV of France.

The Cabinet is of upright rectangular form with a single glass paneled door which reveals an interior lined in watermark fabric and two full width shelves.

The Cabinet is basically Ebonised with black lacquer and features multiple horizontal bands of gilt bronze moldings of varying sizes and motifs.within the frieze section and on the base. Either side of the door are vertical panels of intricate bras inlay in a bed of turtle shell plus bold ‘figure head’ bronze mounts of a female at the top and smaller inverted foliate mounts at the bottom. The door has a complete wide perimeter banding of fine brass inlay paterns plus top corner brackets which give vthe glass panel its unusual shape. The Ebonised base and the cabinet sides also feature fine line brass inlays and applied gilt bronze decorative mounts.

Condition: Over all excellent being complete and the inlays sitting flat.
