A very good example of a genuine antique English later Georgian to early William IV well proportioned Mahogany twin pedestal Side Board.

The beautifully shaped and very well carved back Board has a combination of the French ‘S’ shaped scrolls combined with Egyptian influences which was popular as young men from wealthy familys were sent to the ancient world to round of their education and they came back to England with an appreciable for all things Roman, Greek and Egyptian. The frieze has recessed panelled drawers as the pedestals have recessed panelled doors. The canterlevering frieze is supported above the pedestals by carved scrolled corbels.

The whole is in lovely condition.
